题目：Organic Synthesis Towards Small-molecule Probe Development

Small molecules are important tools for interrogating biological systems, and constitute majority of pharmaceutical agents for treating diseases. Organic synthesis is an indispensable process for accessing small-molecule probes and drugs, and plays an essential role in the discovery of novel ones as well as the optimization of existing ones. Two projects will be briefly presented with regards to both aspects. One is the screen and development of small-molecule inhibitors against STK33, a poorly studied kinase that is synthetic lethal to KRAS-dependent cancer cells. The other is the synthetic studies towards azadirachtin family of natural products, which aims to enable the study of the structure-activity relationship and mechanism-of-action of these intriguingsmall molecules withpotent anti-insect activities.
