报告摘要:
A ten-year effort of generating phototransduction mutants by Dr. William Pak and his lab members at Purdue University about forty years ago generated over 200 mutants, with over 50 affecting phototransduction. Now, about 20 of the mutants have been cloned and the main pathway as well as some of the feedback mechanisms of Drosophila phototransduction have been well studied. The talk will focus on what we know about the electrophysiology of some of those mutants and how we can use electrophysiology to facilitate the cloning of the remaining mutants. The final goal will be to have a thorough understanding of a biological system which can then be served as a model for artificially intelligent design.
