Dr. Elaine Fuchs is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was a professor at the University of Chicago for 20 years, and currently a professor of The Rockefeller University, and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator since 1988.
Dr. Fuchs’research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying skin stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. Her lab has identified several pathways involved in the regulation of skin stem cells, and revealed new insights into why stem cells become more limited in their tissue options during development.
