Dr. Barnes earned her PhD degree in 1999 at CRC Centre for Cancer Therapeutics, Institute of Cancer Research, UK. After working as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Pharmacology Dept, University of Pittsburgh, USA, she joined Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, an Elsevier journal based in UK and was its editor and senior editor for a few years. In January 2006, she helped Nature Publishing Group launch the new journal Nature Protocols and acted as its Editor-in-Chief. She is now holding the position of Managing Editor of the journal.
