About the annual symposium

The Annual Symposium of UHPB

The Annual Symposium is one of the most important events of the Undergraduate Honors Program in Biology (UHPB), which is always held on the end of September every year. The key target of our Annual Symposium is to encourage wider and deeper academic communication among faculty members and students. Under the guidance of this key point, we are pleased to deliver a full program with an interesting mix of keynote lectures, student presentations and poster presentations. We invite keynote speakers and students with sufficiently diverse research interests and viewpoints aiming to facilitate an interactive and stimulating debate. We are very delighted to be able to bring all the registrants cutting-edge researches, novel discoveries, and more importantly the training of critical thinking and the enthusiasm of exploration through our Annual Symposium.

Keynote lectures

With the support of Peking University and the Ministry of Education, we invite superb researchers from all over the world to give scientific lectures on our symposium. All our keynote speakers are leading cutting-edge researches and have made outstanding contribution to solving the most important questions in biological and biomedical fields. Meanwhile, their experience as senior scientists is precious for our students who would like to start a better academic career in the near future.

All the speakers are hosted by student members of UHPB, which provides speakers and students a very good opportunity to communicate with each other.

Student presentations & Posters

A key target of our UHPB program is to encourage and help students to get involved in the scientific community at Peking University, and giving a clear and logic presentation is a critical step for students to introduce their own researches to the community and finally become an active part of it. On each symposium, there are around 20 student presentations which cover a broad range of different fields in biological science. Each student speaker gives a 15-20 minute lecture about their lab researches in the last year / their researches during their summer internship in other institutes at home or abroad.

All the student members submit posters to the symposium, and there will be three 30 minute poster sessions for faculty and students to discuss science and communicate with each other.
